Immigration Work

Growing up I've always heard people talk down on immagrants for coming into the United States and "stealing" work from Americans... I've been in the work force since I was 14 and have worked so many places that there is little I don't know how to do... I want to say stop talking down about immagrants... The work that they take, are neccessary work, that americans feel they are to high up to do... I realized this when I worked for the Crown Royal Hotel... I saw the movie MAID IN MANHATTAN and thought shit if J. LO could do it so can I... That was a movie though... I am not ashamed to say that I worked as a housekeeper there and was one of the few that spoke english... People the shit they do and put up with is HARD... I quite working there after only 3 days... Saying as I walked out the door "I am a US citizen, I don't need to do this shit!!!!"So please unless you have worked in one of these "stolen" positions shut the fuck up... Americans are too spoiled and are not built for the type of labor they do... So I say BIG UPS to the immagrants that keep the hotels clean, and dishes washed at restraunts, and lawns mowed... Cause if they didn't do it TRUST ME it wouldn't get done...

i agree! i'm an International student in te US and hankfully dn have to do "immigrant work" but i'v seen it happen. where you find that the "dirty work" is "reseved" for foreign students in colleges and for any foreigner, inclu, illegal immigrants around the US. thing is they dont think of it as dirty work, its like chores. unlike here in the US where pple whine abt chores because they have to load the dishwasher, vacuum and load the clothes in he washer, most pple in Africa do all this manually and have never had the luxury of having the machines r even the option. Unlike here it is not a given to have these machines to make it easier, these things were not as easy to get and consieed a luxury. I hate when pple look down on immigrants because they are just tring to make a living and that $5.88/hr will go alot further when they send it back home than it will here and their family will have hope. I am glad though that there are plenty of corporate immigrants to show that immigrant work isnt limited to dirty work, they do have dreams and fight for them and do a mighty fine job. They make us proud and give us hope.
